LEED Scorecard

1) Water Efficiency

a. Water Use Reduction (Including Prerequisite)

AmeriPOD commonly works with architects and designers to specify WaterSense plumbing fixtures certified by the EPA for increased efficiency & reduction in water usage. Dual-flush toilets, eco-performance showers, & aerator faucets all are standard features in our bathroom POD design which contribute towards WE Prerequisite 1 & Credit 1.

2) Materials & Resources

a. Construction Waste Management

Modular bathrooms by AmeriPOD arrive to the project as finished construction, minimally adding to the on-site waste stream. In addition, by overseeing the manufacturing process in a controlled factory environment, AmeriPOD can micro-manage waste & recycling handling more diligently than on a conventional construction site.

b. Building / Materials Reuse

AmeriPOD bathrooms are fully reusable plug & play units that can adapt to the changing needs of a client’s workplace. PODs can be disconnected from the main building system as easy as they were installed for relocation and reuse. By maintaining the unit bathrooms, AmeriPOD can contribute significant percentages towards MR 3, as well as MR 1.3 for maintaining interior non-structural elements.

c. Recycled Content / Regional Materials

AmeriPOD analyzes the recycled content & origins of bathroom materials to maximize the environmental benefit of PODs. Environmentally friendly gypsum board (94% pre-consumer, 2% post-consumer), cold-formed metal framing (17% pre-consumer, 37% post-consumer), & EC tile (60% pre-consumer, 3% post-consumer) can all be used to meet your project’s recycling goals and achieve MR Credit 4. In addition AmeriPOD performs site/factory location studies to gain the maximum points in MR Credit 5 for regional materials.

3) Indoor Environmental Quality

a. Low-Emitting Materials

AmeriPOD is always conscience of VOC content limits when selecting materials for your bathroom POD project. All adhesives & sealants utilized in our POD construction comply with LEED EQ Credit 4.1 for maintaining indoor air quality. The same applies for our paints & coatings, carpet systems (if applicable), & composite wood systems in regards to LEED EQ Credits 4.2, 4.3, & 4.4.

b. Construction IAQ Management Plan

Utilizing PODs can significantly reduce indoor air quality problems during construction by taking the work off-site. AmeriPOD bathrooms come delivered as a fully finished & furnished product which produces no pollutants, odors, or debris which are commonly found in the bathroom construction process when dealing with drywall, paints, tiling, & adhesives.

4) Innovation In Design

a. ID Credit Interpretation Request Strategies

An AmeriPOD bathroom is innovative by nature and can offer measurable environmental benefits for obtaining ID credits. There are already several cataloged awarded ID credit submittals dealing with modular construction that can be referenced from the USGBC website. Along with mockup/prototype development and significant material reuse that can be projected in future renovations, AmeriPOD bathrooms are ideal for obtaining LEED ID credits.
